I can’t wait to see what happens next! I began doing children’s music part time in 1998, now doing virtually only music for children, full time. Hi, I'm Chris Morrison. If you would like to know a little more about me and my musical background...this is the place to look. My music experience started when I was 8 years old. Soon, I started playing piano. Two years later I picked up guitar and then trumpet and bugle. Then, after moving up to middle school, I switched from trumpet to french horn. Even as a child I was determined to play. Once I was asked to play the bugle at a school ceremony. The day before the event, I split my lip, as young boys often do. I decided that, by using the side of my mouth that wasn't opened with a gaping wound, I should be able play the bugle anyway, and so,..I did. I always loved to play any and all instruments that I could try whenever I could. In 1986 I graduated from Oklahoma City University with a degree in music arts management. My main instruments were french horn, guitar, and piano. Just before graduation I began playing in local Oklahoma City Bands. I played in these bands, The Trend (dance), Jimmy James and the Jammers (I was a jammer), The Rhythm Shop (dance rock), Eleven (original rock and roll), Baby Love (a soul group), and Full Contact (a funk/soul group). I also enjoyed experience playing guitar in the OCU jazz band with Larry Skinner and Peter Krauss and was in a guitar ensemble with Edgar Cruz and Mark Cruz for a few years. I've played in the "Pride of Oklahoma" OU's marching band from 1979 to 1981, and in OU's honors wind ensemble. Additionally, I've played french horn in many operas, orchestra concerts and so on. I have been recording music writing songs, and composing for many years. My first studio, Wasteland Music Studio has recorded the OK Chorale men's barbershop group, Skye, Dr. Pants, Cosmic Seed, Loose Strings and many others. I have written dozens of songs and am a member of BMI. For a list of songs and some sound samples go to chrissongs.com. I have also written classical/orchestral pieces and several jingles. I had been writing and performing children's music for a few years, and enjoyed it so much that my family and I decided to pursue it full time. So, although, I had been operating Wasteland music studios for many years, part time, when the opportunity arose, I opened Prairie Rhythm and Song Music Studio in June of 2004. My first album, "Yahooooo!" is scheduled to be release on November 15th 2004. Educationally, I have received training and certification and am licensed to teach MusikGarten to children ages 3-6. I have been children's chapel musician for the last two years at First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City, and I have recently been informed that I have been hired to direct the sixth and possibly the eighth grade choirs at Westminster Middle School. I also substitute direct adult and children's choirs at churches around the OKC area, and I am the chapel musician for the First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City.
